Our Cyberian Memorial - The Reasons Why

Welcome To the Federal Republic of Cyberia Pre-history of the Cyber-Island Chain Constitution of the Federal Republic of Cyberia Our Memorial - Why? The Cyberian Memorial Historic Links Bava Belar Corli Lasteria Mala Mattimeo Menet Windsor Islands

Why do we have the Memorial?

Cyberia was once the most popular English-speaking micronation (with the possible exception of Talossa).  A series of three Civil Wars (October 1998, December 1999 - January 2000, June-July 2002) caused the population to plummet. The causes of these conflicts are tangled like a housecat's favorite skein of yarn, but  for the most part they were started when an entrenched government was challenged by reformers. On several occasions, the governement acted illegally and unconstitutionally to quash the voices of dissent. The dissenters would not submit. Both sides took up arms. Again and Again.

Census in the Virtual Commonwealth of Cyberia, taken just before the First Civil War

THEN-

One Hundred and Sixty-One citizens. Sixteen political parties.

Eight functioning provinces. 1

Today-

The Federal Republic of Cyberia  - 20 inhabitants, eight provinces, six parties.

The Virtual Commonwealth of Cyberia - Six (!) inhabitants. One party. Four provinces.

So we honor those who gave everything they could for their nation. So many were lost, so many emigrated, so many driven out so that a few could enjoy power.
